The Peninsula Housing Authority has an affordable homeownership program that serves those making up to 80% of area median income. It is called the Mutual Self-Help Build Program through a partnership with USDA Rural Development. The program supports groups of families building their homes together under the supervision of PHA staff in a village model.
PHA is seeking 8-10 buildable lots in close proximity to each other since the families work on each other’s homes and share tools as well as human power. The lots should be build-ready with public infrastructure already connected to the property (PHA does not buy lots with wells or septic to support long-term affordability for the buying families).
