Title: OlyCap project moves forward, 44 units for JeffCo families and individuals
After nearly 13 years of no new multi-family affordable housing construction in Jefferson County, OlyCap is moving forward through a partnership with the County to build a 44-unit apartment complex in Port Townsend!
The multi-story building on 7th and Hendricks will offer studios through three-bedroom apartments for low- and very low-income residents and families with incomes at or less than 50% of the area median – $32,200 annually for a family of four. The project location is ideal for affordable housing because it is near basic services such as bus stops, the hospital and grocery stores.
The County Commissioners signed a letter of intent on May 6 to sell or lease the piece of county property to OlyCAP for the housing project. This “community buy-in” will help make OlyCap ready to compete for state tax credits, as well as other critical funding sources. Once they have secured the necessary financing, OlyCap hopes to begin construction by September of 2020, with the project slated to finish two years later.
