Facilitated community conversations for those who rent in Jefferson County. It is not a formal public hearing, policy presentation, or extractive listening session. This is a community learning and organizing space where renters name their own experiences, connect those experiences to broader housing conditions, and begin identifying what collective action could look like.
The purpose is to create a welcoming first step toward tenant/renter power in Jefferson County. The conversation should help renters feel less alone, understand that individual struggles are connected to broader systems, and see that collective action is possible. Renters in Jefferson County have the relationships, information, confidence, and collective power to advocate for safe, stable, affordable, and dignified housing. Let’s explore what’s possible together.
RSVP is kindly requested, but not required. Though an RSVP is necessary if you require childcare, accessibility accommodations, translation services, or have dietary restrictions.
This initiative was sparked in conversation with Well Organized, Usawa Consulting, the Community Equity Initiative, Housing Solutions Network, Jefferson County-Port Townsend Housing Fund Board, and the Winter Welcoming Center.
